Equal Opportunity, Diversity & Anti-Harassment Policy
Fair treatment for every applicant and employee, and zero tolerance for harassment, bullying and discrimination.
Our commitment
Kursi Group is an equal opportunity employer. We recruit, develop, reward and promote people on merit, and we are committed to a workplace where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. More than 1,000 people of many nationalities and backgrounds work across the Group, and we value that diversity.
This summary reflects the Group's internal Equal Opportunity and Diversity Policy and Anti-Harassment Policy, which apply to all employees.
Equal opportunity
We do not discriminate on the basis of sex, ethnicity, tribe, state of origin, religion, disability, age, marital or family status, pregnancy, HIV status or any other characteristic protected by law, in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, the Labour Act, the HIV and AIDS (Anti-Discrimination) Act 2014 and the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018.
This applies to recruitment, pay and benefits, training, promotion, discipline and termination. We make reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities, and we actively encourage women's participation in mining and technical roles.
Zero tolerance for harassment
Harassment, bullying, intimidation and victimisation are not tolerated at work, on our sites, in company accommodation or transport, at work events or online. This includes:
- sexual harassment — any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favours, or other verbal, non-verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature;
- bullying — offensive, intimidating, malicious or insulting behaviour, or abuse of power;
- discriminatory harassment related to any protected characteristic; and
- retaliation against anyone who complains or supports a complaint.
Managers must never make employment decisions conditional on personal or sexual favours.
Raising a complaint
Anyone who experiences or witnesses harassment or discrimination should report it to their manager, Human Resources, or through our confidential speak-up channel, which allows anonymous reports. Complaints are handled promptly, impartially and confidentially, and interim measures may be taken to protect the person who complained.
Consequences
Anyone found to have harassed, bullied or discriminated against another person, or retaliated against a complainant, will face disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. Contractors and visitors may be removed from our sites.
Responsibilities
All employees are responsible for treating colleagues with respect. Managers must set an example and act on concerns. Human Resources owns this policy, provides training, and reviews it at least every two years.
